This is our manufacturing philosophy: we believe that truly beautiful and wonderful products do not need large logos or excessive decoration; the quality of the product itself is enough.
Furthermore, the simpler the design, the more important it is to use high-quality materials and to have high technical skill. We wanted to compete on the quality of our products, so we decided to go for a design that stripped everything down.
Brightway's beautiful details are also supported by the skills of our skilled craftsmen.
One of the distinctive designs is a special sewing method called "backstitching" that creates invisible seams around the ankles.
This is a sewing method that requires high technical skills and is used for high-end brand pumps.
The common manufacturing method is to insert sponge into the ankle area to inflate it, but brightway uses backstitching, which makes the ankle area look neater and prevents pain even without sponge.
Although simple, this pair of shoes shines with details that incorporate many years of history and technology.

We have collaborated with a Japanese tanner (leather producer) with excellent technical skills to develop leather that can be worn safely every day and is easy to clean.

The ankle area is backstitched to create invisible seams, providing a clean, beautiful line and a comfortable fit.

Brightway shoes are characterized by the comfortable feeling of being "softly and gently wrapped" the moment you put them on, and a firm hold on the heel.
The secret lies in the genuine leather core material (leather counter) used in the heel.
While many sneakers use resin or plastic materials, Brightway uses genuine leather for all of its models.
This core material is made from the bottom layer of cowhide, which would normally be discarded.
It is rare, expensive, and requires time and skill to manufacture, so there are only a few factories in Japan that can use it.
This traditional manufacturing method, which takes time and care, allows the shoes to conform to your feet the more you wear them, resulting in a comfortable fit that prevents them from slipping off.

All parts of brightway sneakers can be repaired or replaced.

One thing worth mentioning is that it supports full sole replacement, which is rare for sneakers.
While many high-priced sneakers do not offer replacement of the original soles, brightway can restore them to like-new condition.
Many of the main parts, including the cup insole, are also replaceable.
This system is possible because all manufacturing processes are completed domestically and our own craftsmen carefully tailor each pair of shoes.
It's not just about making a pair of shoes and then being done with it, but about creating a pair of shoes that will last a long time.

Brightway is made by International Shoes Co., Ltd., a leather shoe manufacturing factory in Osaka.
The founder is Yoshikazu Ueda.
Our shoemaking began in 1954 in a small workshop run by two people.
For over half a century since then, we have supported the shoemaking of many women's shoe brands both in Japan and overseas.
Since our founding, we have always valued "making good shoes with sincerity."
Even now, half a century later, we still place great importance on carefully crafting a pair of shoes that can be loved for a long time.
In addition, at Brightway , we source ingredients produced in Japan from producers we know personally whenever possible.
Before starting production, we always visit the producers, listen to their thoughts, and share the vision we are aiming for before we start creating together.
~ Passing on Japanese materials and techniques to the next generation ~
The reason brightway is committed to using domestically produced materials is because we want to once again share the culture and techniques of Japanese shoemaking with the world.
Japan has a history of compassion, careful handwork, and manufacturing rooted in the local community.
In order to protect and properly convey this value, we actively use materials made in Japan.
While many factories have moved production overseas, Brightway has chosen to continue making shoes here in Osaka.
This is to pass on the techniques and spirit that our predecessors have preserved to the next generation.
Just like in Europe, the artisan's philosophy and techniques are passed down from parent to child.
We would like to build such a manufacturing utopia in Japan as well.
To create shoes that will still be loved 10 years from now, and a brand that we can be proud of 100 years from now.
