One distinctive design feature is a special sewing method called "return stitching," where the seams around the ankle are invisible.
This is a highly skilled sewing technique often used in high-end pumps.
While many methods typically involve padding the ankle area with sponge to create bulk, brightway employs return stitching. This makes the ankle area look sleek and ensures comfort even without a sponge.

The surface leather itself is coated, allowing it to be worn without issue even in light rain (*While this product features coated leather, it is not waterproof).
We collaborated with a highly skilled Japanese tannery (leather producer) to develop leather that can be worn confidently every day and is easy to clean.

The secret lies in the genuine leather heel counter used for the heel.
While many sneakers use resin or plastic, brightway uses genuine leather for all its models.
This core material is a recycled portion of the innermost layer of cowhide, which would normally be discarded.
Because it is rare, costly, and requires time and skill to produce, only a handful of factories in Japan can use it.
This traditional manufacturing method, which takes time to carefully craft, allows the shoes to mold to your feet with each wear, creating a comfortable, blister-free fit.

All parts of brightway sneakers can be repaired or replaced.

Notably, and rare for sneakers, we offer a complete sole replacement.
While many high-end sneakers do not support original sole replacement, brightway can restore them to like-new condition.
In addition to this, many key parts, including the cup insole, are replaceable.
This system is possible because all manufacturing processes are completed in Japan, and our in-house craftsmen carefully craft each pair.

〜 Domestic materials and local manufacturing 〜
brightway is made by International Shoes Co., Ltd., a leather shoe manufacturing factory in Osaka.
The founder is Giichi Ueda.
In 1954, our shoemaking began in a small workshop with two people.
For over half a century since then, we have supported the shoemaking of many women's shoe brands both domestically and internationally.
What we have cherished since our founding is "to make good shoes with integrity."
Even half a century later, we continue to prioritize carefully crafting shoes that can be loved for a long time.
Furthermore, at brightway, we procure materials produced in Japan as much as possible, from producers whose faces we know.
Before starting any manufacturing, we always visit the producers, listen to their aspirations, and share our vision before embarking on co-creation.
〜 Japanese materials and technology, for the next generation 〜
The reason brightway insists on domestic materials
is our desire to once again deliver Japan's shoemaking culture and technology to the world.
Japan has a history of thoughtfulness, meticulous craftsmanship, and locally rooted manufacturing.
To preserve and correctly convey these values, we actively use materials originating in Japan.
While many factories have moved production overseas, brightway chose to continue shoemaking here in Osaka.
This is to pass on the techniques and spirit protected by previous generations to the next.
Like in Europe, where the philosophy and techniques of craftsmen are inherited from parent to child—
we want to build such an ideal manufacturing haven in Japan as well.
