~ Material selection for ultimate comfort ~
brightway shoes are characterized by a soft, gentle, "floating" comfort the moment you put them on, combined with a firm heel hold.
The secret lies in the genuine leather core material, the "leather counter," used in the heel.
While many sneakers use resin or plastic, brightway uses genuine leather for all its models.
This core material is made from recycled parts of the lowest layer of cowhide, which would normally be discarded.
It is rare, costly, and requires time and skill to manufacture, so only a few factories in Japan can use it.
This traditional manufacturing method, which takes time and care to create, allows the shoes to adapt to your feet the more you wear them, resulting in a comfortable, chafe-free fit.

By applying a coating to the leather surface itself, the shoes have been updated to be wearable even in light rain (※This product features coated leather, but it is not waterproof.)
We co-developed this leather with Japanese tanners, who possess excellent technical skills, to create a material that is safe for daily wear and easy to clean.
It's a reliable companion for daily use and travel.
~ All parts replaceable. Repair service for lasting wear ~
All parts of brightway sneakers are repairable and replaceable.

What's particularly noteworthy is that they support all-sole replacement, which is rare for sneakers.
While many high-end sneakers don't support replacing their original soles, brightway can restore them to like-new condition.
In addition, many key parts, including the cup insole, are replaceable.
This system is only possible because all manufacturing processes are completed domestically, and our skilled craftsmen carefully craft each pair.

~ Domestic materials and local craftsmanship ~
brightway is made by us, International Shoes Co., Ltd., a leather shoe manufacturing factory in Osaka.
The founder is Mr. Yoshikazu Ueda.
In 1954, our shoemaking began in a small workshop with two people.
For over half a century since then, we have supported the shoemaking of many women's shoe brands both domestically and internationally.
What we have valued since our founding is "honestly making good shoes."
Even after half a century, we still prioritize carefully making shoes that can be loved for a long time.
At brightway, we procure materials produced in Japan as much as possible, from producers whose faces we know.
Before starting any manufacturing, we always visit the producers, listen to their thoughts, and share our vision before embarking on co-creation.

The reason brightway is particular about domestic materials
is the desire to once again deliver Japan's shoemaking culture and technology to the world.
Japan has a history of thoughtfulness, meticulous craftsmanship, and community-rooted manufacturing.
We actively use domestically produced materials to protect and correctly convey these values.
While many factories have moved to overseas production, brightway chose to continue shoemaking here in Osaka.
This is to pass on the techniques and spirit that our predecessors protected to the next generation.
Just like in Europe, where the philosophy and techniques of artisans are passed from parent to child—
we aim to build such an ideal manufacturing haven in Japan as well.
To create shoes that will be loved 10 years from now and to be a brand proud for 100 years.
